Cop shot in Benque

Police are investigating two shooting incidents in Benque Viejo Del Carmen in the Cayo district where two persons were injured by gunshots in separate incidents.
Police report that on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at about 9:10 p.m. Elizabeth Barrera visited the Benque Viejo Police Station and reported that she was transporting her son Danilo De La Rosa, 26 year old Belizean tortilla vendor to the San Ignacio Community Hospital as he had sustained injuries whilst socializing at the corner of 1A Street and Kennedy Street in Benque Viejo Town. Investigations revealed that earlier that night at 9:05p.m. whilst Danilo was socializing at the residence of one Edwardo Perez and Israel Ortiz he got into an argument with Perez. As a result, Perez fired four shots with a short-arm at De La Rosa who fled from the area. As he did, he sustained an injury to the calf of his left leg.
Police responded but Perez and Ortiz fled the scene.
At 12:12 a.m. Benque Police received another report of a shooting incident where police officer Felton Williams along with another police officer responded to the report. They made checks at number 1 C in that town when they came under gunfire. There was an exchange of gunfire from the police and two male persons were seen fleeing from the scene.
PC Williams sustained a gunshot injury to the back of the upper left leg. He was transported to the San Ignacio Community Hospital for medical treatment where he was admitted in a stable condition.
