Shemika TrappShemika Trapp, 31, a resident of #5 Mayflower Street, was charged criminally for allegedly robbing a woman of her 5 gold chain. Trapp appeared before senior magistrate, Sharon Frazer in Court #2 on Tuesday November 30 where she was charged with a single count of robbery.  Allegations are that on November 14, she stole a gold chain valued 5from Taletha Cruickshank, a domestic of Vista Del Mar, Ladyville.

In court, Trapp was unrepresented but pleaded not guilty to the charge. She told Senior Magistrate Frazer that she was innocent of the charge and that Cruickshank made up the story about her because they are having problems over an incident that occurred years ago while they were gambling. She also told the court that Cruickshank has been harassing her for a while now and has threatened her and threatened her high school daughter since she cannot get to her personally.  According to Trapp, she had to go pick up her daughter at school yesterday because of Cruickshank’s threats to her family. She said that she has tried to explain the situation to the police but that has proven fruitless.

Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer explained to Trapp that she must stay away from the virtual complainant in this case and that she must get help through the police regarding the alleged harassment she claims she has been getting.

There was no objection to bail but Prosecutor Sgt. Carol Tucker asked the court to set a condition to Trapp’s bail and the Senior Magistrate told her that she must stay away from any of the police’s witnesses in the case or else her bail could be revoked. She was offered bail in the sum of $5,000 plus two sureties of $2,500 each. Shemika Trapp is due back before the court on January 4, 2011.

On Thursday October 21 of this year, Trapp, who was using the name Shemika Flowers, was charged with theft of another gold chain from another woman. In April of this year, 49-year-old Karen Froyce, a Secretary of Levi Slusher Street accused Shemika Flowers as the woman who grabbed her chain from around her neck on Friday, April 30 while she was walking on Lakeview Street.

On October 20, Trapp was charged with escape after she managed to escape from police custody by walking out after being taken to the bathroom. She slipped out of the station after a female Special Constable turned around for a few seconds.  She was out on bail of $1,000 for that theft.
