The Rotary Club of San Ignacio held a River Clean-up on Saturday morning for World Environment Day. Their clean-up began at 6:00 am at the Wooden Bridge from the Santa Elena side. The area that was cleaned was from the wooden bridge to the Hawkesworth Bridge.
“We are all doing something to demonstrate the love that we have for the Earth and now in Rotary, one of the areas of focus is the environment and so it’s very important for us to show that we are active and we are here to make a change and to love our planet and give our planet the attention and love that it deserves,” says Faride Ahmad, the President of the Rotary Club of San Ignacio.
Rotary has various areas of foci and is worldwide. The Non-Government Organization’s interests are from maternal health to education. Rotary recently took up the environmental agenda, which means that “Rotary is going to be collecting global funds to help the environment,” says Ahmad.
The Rotary Club of San Ignacio will be installing garbage drums from the wooden bridge to the Hawkesworthbridge.
Faride Ahmad urges everyone to continue supporting the Rotary Clubs all over the Country.
“We are everywhere if you love to do community service think Rotary,” she says.
