A splendidly built chapel was formally opened at the Carmen Requena Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday morning in Santa Elena Town. The ribbon-cutting was done by Mayor Earl Trapp Junior after a brief ceremony under a cloudless sky.
In his main address, Mayor Trapp said that the open space chapel was non-denominational and is now a place of worship and reflection before our loved ones are placed to rest.
Joining in the ceremonies was the Alex Balona, Area Representative for the Cayo Central Division. Representative Balona committed to being ready to work with the leadership in the Twin Towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena. Balona asked the youths in the area to take care of their amenity “…for the benefit of all.”
In her closing remarks, Councillor Vanessa Neal gave a thank you to taxpayers, the architect, and the business community who made the building of the chapel possible. Neal commented that the great skills of the laborers “…should not be taken lightly.”
