Police have been able to arrest and charge two men in relation to a shooting murder that took place in Santa Elena, Cayo. Minor Galindo, 31, and David Galindo, 34, both self-employed residents of Santa Elena, have been charged jointly for the crime of conspiracy to commit murder.
Samuel Hill and Windell Trapp were gunned down outside of CK Sports Bar in the town just after midnight on Sunday, July 19, 2020. It took place just before 12:30 a.m. when a pair of gunmen unleashed a barrage of bullets toward the 29-year-old Trapp, the person police believe was the intended target. Trapp, who has had numerous run-ins with the law, was shot to the head and Hill, who was acting in his capacity as cab driver, has simply been identified as an unfortunate casualty in this incident.
In this shooting, three other people were also hurt, not fatally. Danny Jimenez, a 34-year-old police officer attached to the Special Patrol Unit (SPU), and Telesha McKay are both in stable conditions. Neither of the two were along with either of the other parties when they were shot. The fifth victim, 19-year-old Marques Robateau, is in a serious but stable condition. Robateau is a member of the Belize Coast Guard and cousin of Hill.
