Nineteen-year-old Orlin Medardo Garcia is behind bars while police search for a second person believed to have been responsible along with Garcia for a robbery. But Garcia was first in court for a separate offense. It is alleged that while in detention at the Queen Street Police Station for that crime, Garcia caused damages to a window grill valued at $45.00. He was also additionally charged for escape from lawful custody. In court, he pleaded not guilty to both charges and since there was no objection to bail, he was offered bail of $1,500 by Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson. Garcia is to report to the police station every Friday to sign in until the disposal of the case.
However that was not the end of a court day for Garcia. He was then taken to a courtroom where he appeared unrepresented before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. He was then read two counts of robbery with a firearm. Garcia and a second man, known to police, are accused of holding Sharlene Flowers at gunpoint before making off with her cellphone. They are also accused of robbing Delvitt Samuels at gunpoint and stealing a cellphone and cash. The incident is said to have happened on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at E&C Restaurant located on Albert Street. In court, Garcia pleaded not guilty to the charges but due to the alleged use of a firearm, bail was denied. He was remanded until November 28, 2019.
