Altitude FC wins over FF Valley Pride FC in Opening Season play

The Premier League of Belize Opening Season competition continued over the last weekend with three games on the schedule.
On Saturday, 31st August, at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village, the host team Altitude FC won over the visiting FF Valley Pride FC by the score of 4-2.
The host team Altitude FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Allan Barillas scored the first goal of the game in the first minute of play. The lead was extended when Andres Orozco scored his first of two goals in the 17th minute of play. The visiting FF Valley Pride FC was able to cut the lead in half when Carlos Lin scored his team’s first goal in the 22nd minute of play.
In the second half of the game, FF Valley Pride was able to tie the score at 2-2 when Edisson Reyes scored the equalising goal in the 50th minute. However, that would be all the goals that the Altitude FC defence was going to allow in the game as they did not concede anymore goals for the rest of the game. In the meantime, the Altitude FC offence came alive when it tallied two more goals for the win. Andres Orozco scored his second goal of the game in the 83rd minute and Richard Arnold scoring his goal in the 88th minute for the 4-2 victory.
At the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, the defending champions San Pedro Pirates and the BDF FC played to a 3-3 draw.
The San Pedro Pirates FC were the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Amilton Filho scored the first goal of the game in the 3rd minute of play. The lead was extended when Anderson Cordoba scored the second goal of the game in the 10th minute. However, Osmar Duran scored the first goal of the game for the BDF FC in the 12th minute to cut the deficit into half.
The first half of the game ended in a 2-1 favour for the San Pedro Pirates.
It was not until well into the second half of the game that the visiting BDF FC scored two more times for a 3-2 lead. The equalising goal was scored by Enfield Nunez in the 77th minute of play while the go-ahead goal was scored by Jesse August in the 78th minute of play. However, the San Pedro Pirates came back with a goal of its own when Christian Ortega scored in the 95th minute of the game for the 3-3 draw.
On Sunday, 1st September, at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, Wagiya Sporting Club and the Placencia Assassins FC played to a 0-0 draw.
The competition will take a pause this week to accommodate the National Team that will be playing the CONCACAF Scotiabank Nations League games.
