Police are looking for a man suspected of abducting a 15-year-old female from San Ignacio and taking her to Belize City on Friday, August 23, 2019.
According to the minor, she was walking near the San Ignacio Welcome Center around 1:00 p.m. when she was approached by a man known to her as “Shish”, someone she used to work for. He proceeded to take away her cellphone before forcing her into a vehicle. He drove all the way to Belize City and during the ride, he attempted to sexually assault her multiple times. It was not until the pair were in a traffic jam on Regent Street that the minor says she managed to escape the vehicle and ran into a bank where she contacted the police.
Police met the victim and escorted her to San Ignacio where she met her mother. “Shish” is actively being sought by the police. Of note is that he was recently released from a charge of murder.
