Cabinet was briefed on ongoing technical difficulties at the BSI sugar factory.
 
Education

Cabinet was briefed on, and considered, the Ministry of Education’s policy on the amalgamation of primary schools.
 
Agriculture

Cabinet approved the donation of 2,000 pounds of corn and 500 pounds of rice from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to Toledo District

residents affected by recent floods.

Cabinet was informed of the first meeting of the National Agriculture and Trade Show Committee to plan this year’s show, which will be held from the 30th April through the 2nd May.
 
Crime

Cabinet was updated on the crime situation in Belize City.  Cabinet endorsed the appointment of a parliamentary committee to seek the views of residents of communities country-wide on how best to respond to the crime problem. 
 
Northern Border

Cabinet was briefed on the situation at the Northern Border where Belizean trucks and buses are not being allowed into Mexico on weekends.  Mexican authorities recently announced the introduction of “Gamma Ray Screening” of all buses and trucks at the border on weekdays only.
