On Monday, September 1, 21-year-old Kenrick Kevin Longsworth was found guilty of robbery by Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith. He was then sentenced to six months imprisonment.
Longsworth is accused of jacking a purse from Sherlette Lamb whilst she was on Freetown Road. Lamb testified in court that on the day of the robbery she was at Deheli, a Chinese Store, where she had gone to buy some drinks. Whilst at the store, she took out her purse which she had in a plastic bag and took out some money to pay for her items. She said that she put back the purse in the plastic bag and placed it on the handle of the bicycle she was riding. Whilst at the store, Longsworth was there and he was watching her so she left. As she rode off on her bicycle, she heard heavy breathing coming from behind her and that’s when she looked behind her and saw it was Longsworth who then snatched her purse from off the bicycle.
In court the Chief Magistrate found Longsworth guilty, she told him that she did not believe he did not commit the offense as his version was a fairy tale. Since he has no previous convictions for robbery at the magistrate’s court, she imposed six months upon him.
Longsworth was on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being accused of a robbery and shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at around 11:00 a.m., when a woman, Fatima Figueroa, an employee of Public’s Pharmacy, was shot after being robbed. He was charged with the offenses of attempted murder, dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm upon Fatima Figueroa. He was additional charged with one count of robbery. He was also charged for a burglary that occurred in Fresh Pond, Burrell Boom area in which the home of Antonetta Gillett located at #18 Fresh Pond, Burrell Boom was broken into and over $6,000 worth of items was stolen.
Longsworth is the son of convicted murderer, Lavern “Anti-Christ” Longsworth who was found guilty of murder and had that conviction overturned and replaced with manslaughter by the court of appeal last year.
