The Audit of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital which is being conducted as part of the Commission of Inquiry into the institution is nearing completion.

The Guardian Newspaper understands that the work of the auditors will be completed by the end of this week. The office of the Auditor General sent in personnel on August 4 and since then they have been working on the report. The audit is specifically focused on the period of January 1, 2007 to June 30, 2009. Reports indicate that by the end of this week the audit ground work should have been completed and thereafter a report will be

presented to all parties concerned including the KHMH and the members of the Commission of Inquiry. There is no indication to suggest when that will take place; however, it may be anywhere between one and two weeks after the auditors are out of the KHMH.

As for the Commission of Inquiry we understand that the members have written at least three times to the KHMH requesting various forms of documentation from the KHMH which has been supplied by the institution. The Inquiry’s public hearings on the KHMH are expected to begin shortly after the Auditor General presents the audit report.
