Home Improvement Grants issued in Lake I

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development today issued one hundred and six purchase orders for home improvement in the Lake Independence area of Belize City.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the Hon. Michael Finnegan today delivered the purchase orders to the Lake Independence Area Representative, Hon. Cordel Hyde. The Hon. Cordel Hyde will in turn distribute these purchase orders to beneficiaries living in his constituency whose

home improvement applications had been approved under the scheme funded through grants received from the Government of Venezuela.

These purchase orders represent a further disbursement to the Lake Independence Division from the Venezuela BANDES (Banco de Desarrollo Economico y Social de Venezuela) grant fund negotiated by the Government of Belize for home improvement and affordable housing.

These purchase orders are issued from the Ministry of Housing to local suppliers for the purchase of construction materials and components to facilitate home repairs.

In addition, five (5) other Lake Independence residents will also benefit from contracts executed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for affordable home construction.
 
This additional commitment of BZ$451,298.53 now exhausts the approved allocation for the Lake Independence division under the Venezuela BANDES home improvement and affordable housing scheme.
