Ashton GrantA 10-year-old boy was the victim of a robbery on Friday afternoon September 18, after his 0 stunt bike was stolen from him in broad daylight.

According to the 10-year-old student, at about 2:30 p.m. on that day, he was at the corner of 1st Street and Hopkins Street in the King’s Park area when he was approached by a dark skinned man who pushed him and stole his bicycle. 

According to the victim, the robber was wearing a red striped shirt and ¾ jeans pants.

Within minutes of the robbery, police nabbed their suspect whom they intercepted on Princess Margaret Drive.  The culprit was riding the minor’s bicycle and also fit the description of the suspect as given by the 10-year-old. The bicycle that the culprit was riding was also identified as belonging to the 10-year-old.

On Tuesday September 22nd, 18-year-old Ashton Grant, a Construction Worker of #14 Lizarraga Avenue was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate Court and was charged with one count of robbery. He appeared before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers where he pleaded not guilty and was offered and met bail. Grant is due back in court on October 27.
