The 2012-2013 National Primary Schools Football Championship came to an end on Friday, December 7th, at the MCC Grounds.
In the boys’ championship game, Faith Nazarene School, representing the Cayo District, defeated San Pedro Roman Catholic School representing the Belize District by the score of 2-1. The goals for Faith Nazarene were scored by Brandon Cante, while the goal for San Pedro Roman Catholic School was scored by Jason Maldonado.
In the third place game, La Inmaculada Roman Catholic School, representing Orange Walk defeated Golden Stream Government School, representing the Toledo District by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Amir Munoz.
In the first boys’ game, San Pedro Roman Catholic School defeated La Inmaculada Roman Catholic School by the score of 4-0. The goals for La Immaculada School were scored by Melvin Trujillo and Jason Maldonado.In game two, Faith Nazarene School won over Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic School representing the Corozal District by the score of 1-0. The goal scorer for Faith Nazarene School was Edberto Concha.
In game three, San Pedro Roman Catholic School also blanked Christ the King Anglican School, representing the Stann Creek District, by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Jason Maldonado. In the fourth game of the day, Faith Nazarene defeated Golden Stream Government School, representing the Toledo District, by the score of 1-0. The goal scorer for Faith Nazarene was Edberto Concha.
In game five, La Inmaculada Catholic School shut out Christ the King Anglican School by the score of 3-0. The goal scorers for La Immaculada were Ivar Canas and Fidel Acosta who scored two. In game six, Golden Stream Government School defeated Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic School by the score of 4-0. The goal scorers for Golden Stream Government School were Nicholas Coc who scored three and Donaldo Makin.
In the semi-final round, San Pedro Roman Catholic School blanked Golden Stream Government School by the score of 3-0 to advance to the championship round. The goals for San Pedro Roman Catholic School were scored by Jose Henriquez and Melvin Trujillo, who scored two. In the second semi-final game, Faith Nazarene edged La Inmaculada Roman Catholic School by the score of 1-0 to advance to the championship round. The goal for Faith Nazarene School was scored by Brandon Cante.
At the end of the championship, Brandon Cante of Faith Nazarene School was named the Most Valuable Player. We say congratulations to all our student athletes.
