Brian “Yellowman” Audinett has recently announced his retirement as President of the Mesop/Guardian Bombers basketball team. The 2010 inter-office tournament will be his last hoorah. The Bombers is one of the most active basketball teams in the country. They were once the premiere powerhouse in the inter-office league. As President of the team, he led the Bombers to the inter-office playoffs in each of his seven years.
His proudest moment was when he led the team to the championship in 2005. Besides competing in inter-office
competition, the Bombers travels across the country to participate in invitationals. They won the Hon Marcel Orange Walk invitational in 2009. The team is made up of close childhood friends, mostly from the Mesopotamia Division. Yellowman is extremely dedicated to his team. He is always engaged in fundraising efforts. Many times he has to go into his own pocket to provide the necessities for his team. However, to run such a successful franchise, he had a lot of help along the way.
These are people that, as Yellowman would say, “Never failed” him: Fabian Chang, CEO of Maria Chang, Manuel Castillo of C&C Meats, Simon from Europa, Hon Dean Barrow, Mrs. Phillipa Bailey J.P.(s), MBE; Hon Michael Finnegan, Hon Erwin Contreras, Hon Patrick Faber, Hon Ramon Witz, Senator Juliet Thimbriel, H.E. Arun Hutchandani, Shawn Fienstein, Mrs. Tracy Panton, Ms. Diane Haylock, Richard Stuart, David Novelo, Michael Peyrefitte, Arnaldo Pappy Pena, Patrick Henry, Dinesh Boughuani, the Belize Tourism Board, Housing Department, Brads, Travellers, Habet & Habet, University Management and the Guardian Newspaper.
We at the Guardian Newspaper would like to congratulate Yellowman on his successful stint as President and Coach of the Mesop-Guardian Bombers and wish him well in his future endeavours.
