The dental clinic at the Cleopatra White Polyclinic II in Belize City was officially reopened by the Central Health Region’s Dental Department on Thursday, June 24. It was closed for more than a year, since May 2020, due to financial constraints brought on by COVID-19 but renovations and funds have contributed to the resumption of its dental services. Those funds near somewhere to the tune of $20,000 but, according to dental health officials, was a worthy investment. The resumption of services allows the Central Health Region to offer a more cohesive set of services and improves access to the demand of preventative services as well as dental care.
Services at the new clinic include dental examination, medication, surgical extraction, and minor surgeries. These services, however, put dental professionals at high risk of contracting COVID-19 due to patient-dental staff proximities. As a result, the Ministry of Health and Wellness says that there will be a strong focus on preventative measures throughout the facility.
