Bandits Sport blanked BDF FC in closing Season game

The Premier League of Belize Closing Season competition continued over the last weekend with three games on the schedule.
On Sunday 26 January, at the MCC Grounds, the visiting Bandits Sport blanked the host team BDF FC by the score of 5-0.
The goals for Bandits Sport were scored by Georgie Welcome in the 38th minute and this was followed by Elroy Kuylen’s goal in the 41st minute of play that gave it a 2-0 lead.
In the second half of the game, Bandits Sport picked up where it left off when it scored three more goals. The third goal of the game was scored by Facundo Garnier in the 65th minute, and this was followed by Roberto Silva De Lima’s goal in the 73rd minute for a 4-0 lead. The final goal of the day was scored by Ian Gaynair in the 82nd minute of play to give Bandits Sport the lopsided victory.
Meanwhile, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the host team, Verdes FC, edged out the defending Closing Season champions San Pedro Pirates by the score of 2-1.
The home team Verdes FC, was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Andres Cortebarria scored his team’s first goal of the game in the 12th minute to give it an early lead. The lead was further increased when Denmark Casey scored his team’s second goal of the game in the 46th minute to extend the lead. A lead that they took into the second half of the game.
It was well into the second half of the game that the Closing Season defending champions San Pedro Pirates made it onto the scoreboard when Jesse Smith scored in the 70th minute of play to cut the deficit into half to make the score at 2-1 game. However, the Verdes FC defence did not concede anymore goals and were able to defend its slim lead for its second win of the young season.
And on Saturday 25th January, 2020, at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village, the visiting Wagiya SC and the home team Altitude FC played to a 2-2 draw.
The visiting Wagiya SC made it onto the scoreboard first when Warren Moss scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.
In the second half of the game, the home team Altitude FC made it onto the scoreboard when Aldin Forman scored the equalising goal for his team in the 62nd minute of play to tie the score at 1-1. Wagiya SC then took the lead again in the game when Dayron Gomez scored the go-ahead goal in the 71st minute of play to give his team a 2-1 lead. However, that lead was short-lived as the Altitude FC was able to score again in the 86th minute of play when Allan Barrillas scored the equalising goal to tie the score at 2-2.
The competition will continue this coming weekend with three more games on the schedule.
