Twenty-five-year-old Bryan Hamilton has been detained pending charges in relation to a drug trafficking incident which occurred in Corozal. On Monday, August 26, 2019 at around 2:30 p.m., Corozal police conducted a search on a red Dodge van, being driven by Hamilton at the time. During that search, police discovered twenty-one parcels of suspected cannabis wrapped in brown paper and transparent tape. The parcels had a combined weight of 22,451 grams, or a little under fifty pounds.
Hamilton, a laborer of a Ladyville, Belize district address, has been arrested, charged, and arraigned. He was arraigned on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in the Corozal Magistrate’s Court for drug trafficking. He pleaded not guilty, but the prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that there have been major drug cases before the court every month. Magistrate Ed Usher agreed and remanded Hamilton who was represented by Leslie Hamilton.
Police believe that this is high grade Mexican marijuana again being smuggled into Belize.
