Beacon returns to winning form in city softball competition

The Belize City Senior Women’s Softball competition continued on Sunday 9th June with two games on the schedule at Rogers Stadium.

In the game played between Beacon and the Bandits. Beacon won its fifth game of the season when it defeated the Bandits by the score of 9-5 to return to winning form.

Bandits, batting first scored three runs in the top of the 1st inning to take an early 3-0 lead but Beacon came roaring back in the bottom of the 1st inning when it scored 5 runs on 6 hits.

Beacon then added a single run in the bottom of the 5th inning to improve its lead to 6-3. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Beacon was able to push across another 3 runs for the 9-3 lead.

Meanwhile, in the top of the 7th inning, the Bandits scored 2 more runs to cut the deficit by 4 runs but Janelle Smith working in her third inning of relief work was able to close the door on the Bandits to preserve the win for Lanisha Jones.

Beacon scored 9 runs on 10 hits including 3 Bases-on-Balls. The winning pitcher was Lanisha Jones who walked 2 bats men and struck out a batter. For Bandits, it was 5 runs on 10 hits. The losing pitcher was Nady Coye.

Beacon has now improved its record to 5 wins and 2 defeats.
