Verdes FC eyes Premier League finals

The Premier League of Belize 2018-2019 Opening Season is fast coming to a close. The Premier League entered its semi-final round on Saturday 8th December, 2018.

At the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, Verdes FC won handily over the host team the San Pedro Pirates with the score of 4-1.

The visiting Verdes FC was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Darwin Bermudez scored a goal in the fourth minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The lead was increased when Nahjib Guerra scored his team’s second goal in the 21st minute. The Verdes FC lead was further increased when Darwin Bermudez scored his second goal in the 32nd minute.

The first half of the game ended in favour of the visiting Verdes FC.

Elroy Kuylen scored his team’s fourth and final goal of the game in the 75th minute, guaranteeing a place in the finals.

The San Pedro Pirates saved face when Edward Chavira scored its sole goal of the game in the 84th minute.

On Sunday 9th December, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the host team Police United and the defending champions the Belmopan Bandits played to a 1-1 draw.

The visiting Belmopan Bandits was the first to make it onto the scoreboard when Jerome James scored his team’s only goal in the 26th minute of play.

It was not until the second half of the game that the host team Police United FC made it onto the scoreboard when Carlton Thomas scored the equalising goal in the 61st minute of play via a penalty kick.

The semi-finals will continue this Thursday 13th December, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium between the Belmopan Bandits and the Police United.
