Aldair Pena and Joseph Carnegie represented Belize at the XI U-21 Central American Beach Volleyball Championship in Puerto Cortes, Honduras, from October 31 – November 5, 2018. Ten male teams and ten female teams entered the competition from six Central American countries. Participating countries were Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Nicaragua.

Belize entered one male team, but did not enter a female team in this tournament. Competition was tough, and the round robin phase resulted in 1 win, and 3 losses for Belize.

Aldair Pena and Joseph Carnegie took a loss in their first match against Herrera/Fernandez of Honduras (17-21, 19-21), but came back with a win against Avalos/Ascencio of El Salvador (21-17, 21-18). They fought hard in the next two matches, but were defeated by the eventual first and second place winners of the championship: Cascante/Lopez of Nicaragua (10-21, 9-21) and Lezcano/Fallas of Costa Rica (13-21, 15-21). Even though Pena/Carnegie lost to Cordero/Cascante of Nicaragua in the final round, Belize was able to secure 8th place ahead of two El Salvador teams.

In the male category, Cascante/Lopez of Nicaragua placed first, Lezcano/Fallas of Costa Rica second, and Chacon/ Maldonado of Guatemala third.

The Belize Volleyball Association takes this opportunity to congratulate Aldair Pena and Joseph Carnegie on their performance in this beach volleyball championship.
