Belize City Primary Schools Football competition opens

The Belize Primary School Football Tournament commenced on Monday September 24, 2018 at the MCC Grounds.

There are eight teams participating in the female division and seventeen in the male division. The schools that are competing in the boys’ division are: Queen Square Anglican School, Ephesus SDA School, Wesley Upper School, St. Luke Methodist School, Ebenezer Methodist School, St. Martin De Porres School, Buttonwood Bay Nazarene School, St. John Vianney School, James Garbutt SDA School, Holy Redeemer School, Unity Presbyterian School, Horizon Academy, Salvation Army School, All Saints Anglican School, St. Joseph Primary School, Belize Elementary School and St. Ignatius Primary School.

Meanwhile, the schools that are competing in the girls’ competition includes: St. Luke Methodist School, Salvation Army School, Holy Redeemer School, St. Joseph Primary School, Queen Square Anglican School, Belize Elementary School, St. John Vianney School and James Garbutt SDA School.

On Monday, 1st October, in the only game played in the girls’ competition, Salvation Army School defeated St. Joseph Primary School by the score of 2-0. The goals for Salvation Army School were scored by Tiffany Nunez and Marcella Arzu.

In the first of three games played in the boys’ competition, James Garbutt SDA School blanked Salvation Army School by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Elijah Willoughby.

In game two, Wesley Upper School edged out St. Joseph Primary School by the score of 2-1. The goals for Wesley Upper School was scored by Calvin Thurton and Justin Massiah while the goal for St. Joseph Primary School was scored by Angel Montoya.

In the third and final game in the boys’ competition that was played, St. Luke Methodist School blanked Unity Presbyterian School by the score of 5-0. The goals for St. Luke Methodist School were scored by Smith Roy Bernardez (2), Jason Portillo (2) and Mac Augustine.

The competition then continued on Tuesday, 2nd October, with three games in the boys’ competition.

In the first game played, Queen Square Anglican School defeated Salvation Army School by the score of 2-0. The goals for Queen Square Anglican School were scored by Keedenshay Bowen and Zebulon Leslie.

In game two, Ebenezer Methodist School defeated Buttonwood Bay Nazarene School by the score of 5-0. The goals for Ebenezer Methodist were scored by Calvin Young (3), Dixon Gamboa and an own goal.

And in the final game of the day, St. Ignatius Primary School defeated Horizon Academy by the score of 3-0. the goals for St. Ignatius Primary School were scored by Kadian Baptist, Tyshawn Duran and Jonathan Barella.
