Delvin Cayetano, known affectionately as “Pen”, is a Belizean painter but is known so much more for his accomplishments in the Punta Rock genre. He has even been accredited for the creation of Punta Rock, the traditional Punta rhythm of the Garinagu people. The genre was created in 1978 by Cayetano and remains the traditional music that developed among the Garinagu people of Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras.
Pen has made another great achievement for himself. Quite recently, he won the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award. This award was given at the Garifuna Music Award Show, an esteemed and celebrated event held in Bronx, New York. The show was held on April 8 at the Bronx Music Heritage Center.
