Belize City primary schools basketball competition continues

The Belize City Primary Schools Basketball competition continued on Tuesday 23rd June, 2017, at the Gateway Youth Centre with four games on the schedule.

In the first of two games played in the girls’ competition, All Saints Anglican School won over St. Luke Methodist School by the score of 8-2. The top scorer for All Saints Anglican School was Imanie Nunez with 4 points while the top scorer for St. Luke Methodist School was Ashley Guevara with 2 points.

In the second game played, St. Joseph School defeated Muslim Community School by the score of 16-4. The top scorer for St. Joseph School was Afeni Lamb with 10 points while the top scorers for Muslim Community School were Zakiyyah Sacasa and Dynah Bethran with 2 points each.

In the first of two games also played in the boys’ competition, All Saints Anglican School defeated St. Luke Methodist School by the score of 31-15. The top scorer for All Saints Anglican School was Shane Pratt with 10 points while the top scorers for St. Luke Methodist School were Daniel Gallego, Dreshawn Coffin and Brenjay Castillo with 2 points each.

And in the final game of the day, which was also in the boys’ competition, St. Joseph Roman Catholic School won over Muslim Community School by the score of 18-12. The top scorers for St. Joseph School were Eldon Byrd and Luis Sosa with 6 points each while the top scorer for Muslim Community School was Dyvan Batix with 6 points.

On Friday 19th May, four games were also played in the competition. In the only game of the day that was played in the girls’ competition, Wesley Upper School edged out St. Martin De Porres School by the score of 12-11. The top scorer for Wesley Upper School was Liandra Bainton with 8 points and the top scorer for St. Martin De Porres School was Shantel Flowers with 9 points.

In the first of three games played in the boys’ competition, St. Martin De Porres School edged out Wesley Upper School by the score of 26-24. The top scorers for St. Martin De Porres School were Tarique Solis and Kentrell Marshall with 7 points each, while the top scorer for Wesley Upper School was Daniel Smith with 14 points.

In the second game, St. Ignatius School defeated its sister school Holy Redeemer by the score of 34-23. The top scorer for St. Ignatius School was Kyle Castillo with 15 points and the top scorer for Holy Redeemer School was Lebraun Reneau with 5 points.

And in the final game of the day, Trinity Methodist School upended St. John Vianney School by the score of 23-10. The top scorer for Trinity Methodist was Aaron Leslie with 10 points while the top scorer for St. John Vianney School was James Lewis with 5 points.

On Wednesday 17th May, only one game was played in the boys’ competition, in which St. Joseph School defeated Trinity Methodist School by the score of 31-17. The top scorer for St. Joseph School was Eldon Byrd with 9 points and the top scorer for Trinity Methodist was Mushay Grant with 13 points.
