On November 10, 2016, Ms. Manuela Lue, one of the Directors of the BNE Energy for Life Program, received the Commonwealth Youth Worker Award for the Caribbean and Americas regions. Ceremonies took place in London England at the Commonwealth Secretariat’s offices.

The Energy for Life Program is a charity that is funded by the employees of BNE. Through the program employees of BNE sponsor, mentors and tutors underprivileged youth; these youth are actively engaged in various community projects nationwide. Several of these youth have won international awards and scholarships from Canada and the United Kingdom.

The theme for Youth Work Week 2016 was ‘Empowering young people through sport and arts,’ acknowledging the creative and innovative techniques that youth workers employ to deliver effective youth empowerment programs. The Commonwealth Youth Worker Awards recognize youth workers who are instrumental to the positive development of young people.
