From the hospital to the courtroom for Jervis Valencia

Thirty three year old Jervis Jermaine Diamond aka “Jervis Valencia” who is a member of the Ghost town area gang also know as Mayflower was discharged from the hospital on Monday morning and handed into police custody where a book of charges was waiting for him since the March 4, 2015 shooting murder of Moses Gonguez also of the Ghost Town gang and the attempt on the life of Triston Gordon and for shooting at two police officers, a Corporal and a Constable.

Valencia was escorted to the Belize City Magistrate’s court under police guard but he could barely walk.

He had to be escorted with help from his ex/girlfriend, Shelly Meighan.

She took him back and forth until he was taken into a police mobile bound for jail at 4 in the evening.

In court before Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith, Valencia stood up when his name was called but within a minute before the charges could be completely read, he was forced to sit down and lay to the right side due to an alleged spinal cord injury he sustained when he was shot.

Valencia’s left hand was seen in a sling.  His left eye full with blood cloth and there is a bandage around his neck from injury he sustained after being shot.

He also was seen with a red apple in his right hand and in court he was seen using it to exercise the muscle in his hand which was injured by the impact of the bullett.

Nine charges were read to him in total.

Those included one count of murder for the March 4, 2015 murder of Moses Gonguez; Attempted murder, one count of use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm upon Triston Gordon. He was also charged with one count each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon upon Cpl. Harold Grinage and Police Constable, Freeman Staine. Two firearm related offenses were also read to him including one count of kept a firearm, to wit, a 9 mm pistol and kept ammunition without a gun license for 9 mm ammunition found in his possession. He was also charged with possession of an extended magazine adapted for use for a 9 mm pistol.

For the charges of murder and attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm no plea was taken from him but for the other offenses, including firearm and ammunition offense and aggravated assault and possession of an extended magazine, a plea was taken from him to which he pleaded not guilty.

Valencia who is a resident of 4500 Evergreen Street, was unrepresented when he appeared in court.

He was remanded to prison until May 6, and disclosure was ordered for April 23, 2015.
