Guy “Fish” TillettThe Belize Softball Federation is mourning the loss of one of its own Mr. Guy “Fish” Tillett. Mr. Tillett passed away on Thursday September 24, 2009, at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

Guy first came on the softball scene in 1971 when he was introduced to the game of softball by Manager Raymond Lashley who had just formed his own team Hoovers.

“Fish” remained loyal to Manager Raymond Lashley for all the years he was involved in softball. He first served as bat boy

then as an assistant coach, and finally to a full coach. He was involved with Hoovers, Berger 303, Coca-Cola, Tapir, Happy Home Builders, Acros and then Telemedia.

“Fish” had the privilege of rubbing shoulders with ISF Hall of Famers Linda Lewis-Brown, Linda “Sue” Reyes, and Margaret Usher and also with Gold Medallists Joan Garbutt, Marie Wade, Elaine Smith, and Grace Banner (deceased).

He also served the Belize Softball Federation on numerous occasions as Custodian of the Federation. Fish participated in two Caribbean Games here in Belize City (1972 and 1977) as bat boy for the National Women’s Team.

On the male side, Fish was actively involved with BEL Rookies, and the Rookies Softball Teams as a player and a coach. He served faithfully along side his coach and best friend Mr. Nelberth Flowers in both the senior male and interoffice competitions.

Guy “Fish” Tillett was a fixture at Rogers Stadium and will truly be missed by all softballers and fans.
