Police have arrested and charge James Edward Rhaburn, 41, for the murder of Michael Richard Ysaguirre, 50, better known as ‘Spam’. Rhaburn and Ysaguirre are fishermen of the Conch Shell Bay area who allegedly got into a fight on June 26 during which Rhaburn severely battered Ysaguirre and hit him in the chest area with an object made of fiber glass (believed to be a ‘hook stick’). Ysaguirre died a couple days after the brawl, on June 28.

Rhaburn was arrested by police and appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano on Friday, July 11, where he was read a single charge of murder. He was represented by Richard Bradley and since the charge will be dealt with on indictment, no plea was taken. Magistrate Cayetano ordered that Rhaburn be remanded at the Belize Central Prison until his next court appearance on September 15.

Yssaguirre is the brother of former Belize City Major, Zenaida Moya. The family says he died because of a punctured heart.
