A Rotary Club from the United States has recently assisted a village in the Cayo District with portable solar lights. The Rotary Club of Copperas, Cove, Texas has given solar lights to the Village of Duck Run in the Cayo District.  Duck Run is located Northeast of San Ignacio Town.

The assistance of solar lights has been welcomed by the Villagers of Duck Run, given their lack of a safe source of light. Children in Duck Run study at night with the use of homemade lighting devices, which if left unattended can become a fire hazard. The Rotary Club of San Ignacio has provided transportation and assisted in the distribution of the solar powered lights. The Ministry of Rural Development is also being thanked for their assistance in the solar light distribution.
