Angel Tzib captures 19th Annual Digicell Valentine’s Cycling Classic

The Cycling Federation of Belize in partnership with Belize Telemedia Ltd. and Digicell sponsored the 19th Annual Digicell Valentine’s Cycling Classic that was held on Sunday February 16, 2014.

The Elite/Open and Master riders all  commence their 90 miles journey at 8:00 am from in front of Leslie’s Imports on the George Price Highway and travelled all the way to mile 46 in front of the Belmopan Airstrip and then back to Leslie’s Imports for the finish.

At the conclusion of the 3:55:49 event Angel Tzib who is unattached was the first rider to cross the finish line to capture his first national title. He received $800.00, a Net book and a trophy. The second rider to cross the finish line was Giovanni Lovell of BTL Cycling Team and he received $600.00 and a trophy, third place went to Darnell Barrow of Smart and he received $400.00 and a trophy, fourth place went to Byron Pope of Benny’s Megabytes and he received $200.00 and a medal, while fifth place went to Ron Vasquez of Western Spirit and he received $100.00 and a medal to round off the top five finishers in the race.

The other top finishers included Patrick Bennett of Smart and he completed the event in a time of 3:56:17, and he was followed by Raniel ‘Ray’ Sanchez of BELCAL, and he was followed by Mark Staine of Benny’s Megabytes, and he was followed by Jairo Campos of the Predators and then he was followed by Gregory Lovell of BTL Cycling Team.

In the U- 23 category, the first rider to cross the finish was Giovanni Lovell of BTL Cycling Team and he received $200.00 and a trophy, second place went to Deezan Spence of Western Spirit and he received $100.00 and a trophy for his prize, while third place went to Brandon Morgan of Benny’s Megabytes and he received $50.00 and a trophy.

In the Elite 4/5 Category, first place went to Giovanni Lovell of BTL Cycling Team with second place going to Patrick Bennett and third place to Deezan Spence of Western Spirit.

In the Masters Category, first place went to Raniel ‘Ray’ Sanchez of BELCAL, second place went to Quinton Hamilton of SMART and third place went to Jose Choto of Western Spirit.

In the Masters 4/5 Category, first place went to Stephen Bisset who is unattached, second place went to Santiago ‘Santino’ Castillo of Ride to Victory and third placewent to George Abraham of BELCAL.

In the female category, first place went to Kerah Eiley in a time of 2:36:56, second place went to Shalini Zabaneh of Team Sagitun and she completed the event in a time of 2:37:56, while third place went Kaya Cattouse of SMART C-Ray.

In the junior category, first place went to Delon Gentle of BELCOL Uprising second place went to Delawn Abraham of Benny’s Megabytes with third place going to Zahir Figueroa of BELCOL Uprising.

And in the Youth Category, first place went to Devin Azueta of Cayo High Road, second place went to Michael Grajalez of Mandos while third place went to Dennis Arnoldwho is unattached.
