Are you bored in the house and at a loss with what to do with so much extra time on your hands? If you have ever dreamed of transforming any aspects of yourself, well, this is the perfect time to focus on you and achieve that post-quarantine glow-up!
It is a rare opportunity to have so much time at your disposal in this day and age. Instead of focusing on the external things that you cannot control, take advantage of this situation to bring yourself one step closer to the person you want to be! Here are a few ways that you can do so!
Keep a good diet
Healthy eating is something that many people forgo in the hustle and bustle of life. It may seem like a hassle to prepare and cook your meals when you’re always rushing in and out of the house. But with many restaurants closed and others only open for delivery or takeaway, this is the opportune time to learn how to cook some simple meals and build a good diet. If you’ve ever dreamed of achieving your desired fitness or get your body in shape, you would know that diet accounts for a large percentage of the transformation.
Start searching up some easy recipes to whip up healthy yet delicious meals that you can make at home. If you’re working from home and find it difficult to cook every meal, you can start meal prepping for the week during the weekend! An easy way to keep on top of your diet is to choose a few dishes you want for the week and go grocery shopping during the weekend. You can meal prep on Sunday and enjoy these dishes throughout the week.
Do exercises at home
While diet plays a major role, exercise also comes into play. Just because the gyms are closed, that does not give you an excuse to not work out during this period! There has been a surge in home exercise tutorials uploaded online and many of these don’t require you to have equipment – often, just a yoga mat and some small weights suffice. If you don’t have weights at home, you can substitute them with half-filled bottles!
It’s also good to exercise during quarantine so that you can get yourself moving and avoid being inactive, as that may lead to many other negative health implications. Take some time out of your day to invest in building your physical health and you will reap many benefits out of it. This can also help you maintain a healthy sleep cycle, as being active can help get rid of your restlessness.
Changing your lifestyle – building healthier habits
Many people may have unconsciously built up unhealthy living habits to cope with their busy schedules. This is the perfect time to pause, evaluate your lifestyle and reset it! It only takes 21 days to build a habit and by building yourself, you can walk out of quarantine with a happier and healthier outlook that will improve your life for years to come.
Some good habits to build can be such as picking up journaling or meditation, to discover more about yourself and understand what brings you joy in life. This can also help you gradually distance yourself from the areas of your life that bring you down and focus on what matters to you. You can also start reconnecting with close friends through online platforms and spend more time with your loved ones at home.
Having said that, it doesn’t mean that you’re not allowed to have some fun during quarantine as well! It’s rare to have so much time at hand to do what you want, so it’s a great time to indulge in watching your favorite TV shows or just lounge around and relax. Many people forgo their passions in pursuit of their careers, but this is a great time to rekindle that flame and pick up those hobbies again! Be it playing the guitar, drawing, or even playing games with your friends – do things that bring you joy and reignite the childlike passions that you once had. This is also great in the long-run as it helps you avoid being burnt out from work or the many stressors of life, and keeps you rooted to the simple things that make you happy.
There are also many online deals currently that you can capitalize on to buy your favorite product at a discounted price! Have fun and maybe even film an unboxing haul or fashion try-on video for your
Improve your skincare routine
Staying at home is a great time to take off your makeup and let your skin breathe! With so much time at your disposal, you can also start researching on what products and routines are good for your skin type. You can also purchase new products online and get them delivered to your house. This is the best time to test new products and develop a good skincare routine.
Build up new skills
Glowing up doesn’t just mean transformation on the outside, but it means transforming yourself from the inside out. Have you ever wanted to learn something but simply could not find the time to? This could range from building up common skills that are useful in the workplace such as Photoshop skills, coding skills or digital marketing skills, to personal skills such as cooking, painting or writing. You could also take this time to learn a new language or brush up on your business language skills.
There is a great variety of tutorials and courses online that you can utilise to learn these new skills. Signing up for a paid course may give you a greater incentive to stick to your decision to learn the new skill, and it’s definitely a worthy investment. If you’re currently a student, you can also read ahead for your classes to spot a glow-up in your grades post-quarantine!
