Guardian/Housing Department: Egbert Walford The 2009 Belize City Interoffice Basketball Competition continued at the Belize City Centre.

On Monday April 20, in the first game of the night, Tuff e Nuff Tours defeated Youth for the Future by the score of 45-44. The top scorers for Tuff e Nuff Tours were Rico Black with 15 points which included 4-3’s, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 3 steals, and Amir Garcia with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals. Meanwhile, the top scorers for Youth for the Future were Elsworth Itza with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal, and Stanley Bradley with 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

In game two, Brodies ‘Milo’ defeated Kolbe Foundation by the score of 67-63. The top scorers for Brodies were Ashley Hemsley with 30 points which included 4-3’s pointers, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals, and Sherman Myles with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block and 2 steals. For Kolbe the top scorers were Jerry Nicholas with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 3 steals, and Nadir Ahmad with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 3 steals.

In game three, Aero Dispatch Services defeated SSB/BNTU by the score of 56-50. The top scorers for Aero Dispatch were Ronald Alarcon with 18 points (4-3’s), 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals, and Charles Armstrong with 9 points, 15 rebounds and 1 steal. For SSB/BNTU, the top scorers were David Jones with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 1 steal, and Earl Noralez with 12 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

On Sunday April 19, there were five games on the schedule that were played. In game one, General Post Office defeated Belize Healthcare Partners by the score of 53-34. The top scorer for GPO was Ian Ferrera with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals. Meanwhile, the top scorer for Belize Healthcare Partners was Ernesto Cacho with 11 points, and 4 rebounds.

In the second game, Atlantic Bank defeated Castillo Sanchez & Burrell by the score of 61-37. The top scorer for Atlantic Bank was Andrew Staine with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, while the top scorer for CSB was Aires Lin with 10 points, 1 rebound, 2 assist and 1 steal.

In game three, BEL defeated Grace Kennedy Belize by the score of 65-23. The top scorer for BEL was Kareem Thimbriel with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 4 steals. Meanwhile, the top scorers for Grace Kennedy Belize were Gladson Gomez and Carlo Marin with 7 points each.

In game four, Belize Water Services continued on its winning ways when it edged out Guardian/Housing Department by the score of 58-54. The top scorers for BWS were Karim Thompson with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal, and Devon Defour with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assist and 1 steal. For the Guardian/Housing Department Team the top scorers were Bernard Felix with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals, and Egbert Walford with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.

In the fifth and final game of the day, Cellular Plus/Customs defeated Medical& Johnston Int’l by the score of 55-52. The top scorer for Cellular Plus/Customs was Albert Kelvin with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, while the top scorer for Medical was C Gentle with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals.

On Friday April 17, in the first game played, Home Protector Insurance defeated the Central Bank by the score of 68-55. The top scorer for Home Protector Insurance was Milton Flores with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assist, while the top scorer for CentralBank was Edward Baptist with 17 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.

In the second game, Police Department defeated Cellular Plus/Customs by the score of 54-52. The top scorer for the Police Department was Chester Norales with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. For Cellular Plus/Customs the top scorer was James Saunders with 22 points (17 points from the Free Throw line), 1 rebound and 2 steals.

In the third and final game of the evening, Port of Belize defeated KHMH by the score of 51-40. The top scorer for Port of Belize was Kent Marfield with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block and 3 steals. Meanwhile, the top scorer for KHMH was Norman Humes with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.

On Wednesday April 15, in the first game played Home Protector Insurance defeated Castillo Sanchez & Burrell by the score of 62-37. The top scorer for Home Protector was Albert Zelaya with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. For CSB, the top scorer was Tyrone Palmerston with 13 points, 1 rebound and 3 steals.

In the second game, Guardian/Housing Department defeated Kolbe Foundation in overtime by the score of 60-56. The top scorers for Guardian/Housing Department were Egbert Walford with 17 points, 1 rebound and 5 steals, and Dwayne Davis with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. For Kolbe the top scorer was Dale Turner with 21 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals.

In the third and final game of the evening, Belize Water Services defeated Brodies ‘Milo’ by the score of 56-51. The top scorer for Belize Water Services was Jerome Ellis with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. For Brodies ‘Milo’ the top scorer was Ashley Hemsley with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 4 steals.
