On Friday, July 2, an attempt was made on the life of the well-known Jervis Valencia of the “Ghost Town” area of Belize City. It is the second time since the start of 2021 that Valencia has come under attack. In this most recent one, Valencia was walking in his Mayflower Street neighborhood when two male persons accosted him. Valencia was making his way through an alley when the men fired shots at him. The 38-year-old notorious figure was shot once in the left jaw. From the scene, police were able to recover two expended shells.
Police have not yet received a formal report from the victim and he has discharged himself from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The police report that the incident stems from internal disputes within the area and add that there is only so much that they can do.
