The lifeless, decapitated body of a man, later identified as a Guatemalan laborer, was found in the Honey Camp area of Orange Walk on Thursday, June 24. Officers responded to reports of a body found strewn on the road and made their way to the gruesome scene. They visited an area on a feeder road leading to Santa Marta Village where the body of a Hispanic male was found with its head not too far away.
The victim was wearing a 3/4 camouflage pant with a khaki shirt and has been identified as Rigoberto Salinas Orellana, aka Rigo or Rambo, by Angel Gongora, who claims to be a friend of the deceased. One person has been detained by police as they continue their investigations.
Reports are that the deceased was last seen alive on Tuesday, June 22, at around 10:00 p.m. No motive has yet been established by police for this heinous murder.
