Police arrest two for separate murder cases

Police have arrested two teenagers, a young man and a young woman and are linking them to the murder of two prominent Belizeans in the Western part of the country. The two are 18-year-old Sergio Pineda and a 17-year-old female. The young man was detained in Guatemala and handed over to Belizean authorities. Pineda and the teen girl were jointly charged for conspiracy to commit murder in the killing of former General Manager of the Border Management Authority, Gonzalo Rosado. They were additionally charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the killing of Wayne Cadle, a BECOL supervisor. Both have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Gonzalo Rosado

Gonzalo Rosado was shot and killed inside his vehicle in front of his home in Succotz village sometime before 7 p.m. on March 1, 2021. At the time he had been called out to pick up three persons. When he reached in front of his home gunshots rang out and two young men and a young woman were seen running from inside his vehicle leaving him dead in the driver’s seat.

Wayne Cadle

In the second murder case, Wayne Cadle, a BECOL supervisor, was shot and killed as he parked his company-issued pickup truck on Riverside Street in Benque Viejo town. At the time he was attacked by 4 men who shot and killed him and drove off in his pickup truck.
