Road Traffic Accident Llaims Life of Senior Police Officers

Police have laid 8 charges against a man following a traffic collision that claimed the life of Assistant Superintendent of Police Fernando Gilman Neal.
On Tuesday, June 22, Police formally arrested and charged Eyder Radiel Sanchez for the crimes of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, failure to keep as close as possible to the right-hand side of the road, failure to report an accident, negligent harm, drove a motor vehicle without due care and attention and two counts of failure to stop and render aid. Sanchez was arraigned at the Corozal Magistrate’s Court and was granted bail of $8,000.00.
On the night of Saturday, June 19, ASP Neal was traveling along with 22-year-old Police Constable Didier Clavel between miles 76 and 77 on the Phillip Goldson Highway at the entrance of Concepcion village. At that time a pickup truck being driven by Sanchez veered into their lane and collided head-on with the vehicle in which the two officers were. ASP Neal died at the site while officer Clavel was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital for treatment.
