Two officers of the Belize Coast Guard, Daniel Ack and Jamie-lee Cruz, have found themselves in trouble with the law for transporting uncustomed goods. The men were traveling in northern Belize when they came upon a police checkpoint. A search of the SUV led to the discovery of 320 pounds of bass filet, 46 pounds of salmon fillet, and 317 pounds of jumbo shrimp, more than $30,000 worth of fish. The men were unable to provide any documentation for the fish and as a result, were detained. Both Ack and Cruz, along with the seafood, were handed over to customs officials.
