Police are investigating an incident of an apparent drowning, and are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination to conclude their investigations. This is in relation to Aravind Srinivasan, a 26-year-old Indian national who was visiting Belize before being reported missing on Thursday, May 20. Srinivasan, who was reportedly last seen leaving his hotel room on Caye Caulker, had left to go snorkeling two days before being reported missing.
On May 20, a joint operation was conducted in search of the tourist, and by that afternoon, his lifeless body was recovered. According to police, the body was found some 3.5 miles west of Caye Caulker by personnel from the Belize Police Department and Belize Coast Guard. They retrieved the body and because of no obvious signs of injury on the body, no foul play was expected. His body has since been transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where it awaits a post mortem examination. Police investigations continue.
