She killed her sister-in-law

Leanne Davis
Venecia Staine

As families celebrated their Easter weekend across the country, the family of 24-year-old Venecia Staine spent their Easter Sunday mourning the loss of their loved one. Staine was fatally stabbed while visiting her family’s farm in Gracie Rock, something she had not done in years. What started as a typical family gathering quickly became violent and ended in murder. Police say that they have learnt that Staine and her sister-in-law and attacker, 25-year-old Leanne Davis, could hardly get along. They were constantly at odds and it was during what would be their last disagreement that Staine was fatally wounded.
Reports are that at around 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, Staine and Davis became involved in an argument. Davis produced a 10-inch blade which she used to stab Staine. The family made efforts to intervene and according to reports, their grandfather had to use a machete to separate the women. At this time, they attempted to get Staine to safety and to receive medical attention but it was too late. She did not die on the spot but was later pronounced dead at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
The police have since arrested and charged Davis for the murder of Venecia Staine and also with attempted murder and use of deadly means of harm. Police have since recovered the weapon used in this deadly attack, from the family home in Gracie Rock.
