More than a dozen homeless after Corozal fire

Corozal police are still awaiting the results of a fire investigation but in the meantime, 18 persons are without a home. This comes after a blaze erupted on Olga Marin Drive in Corozal Town just after midnight on Sunday, April 4, 2021 and engulfed four wooden structures. Police responded to the home of Rosita Gilharry where she reported that just after midnight, she was alerted that one of the structures was on fire. From there, the fire spread to three more structures, leaving as many as 18 persons homeless. No one was injured in the process.
It is reported that the homes did not have any electricity and that candles were being used and, as a result, might have caused the fire. Nonetheless, fire investigators are working to determine the exact cause.
