Fuels Prices in PG

There have been no less than 14 gas price increases since the PUP got into office on November 11, 2020. They can be enumerated on the following dates:
November 19, 2020; December 11, 2020; December 23, 2020; December 26, 2020; January 15, 2021; January 19, 2021; January 23, 2021; February 3, 2021; February 9, 2021; February 16, 2021; February 25, 2021; March 13, 2021; March 19, 2021; March 23, 2021. At the beginning of the upward move in the price of fuel the prices were as follows:
On average the price increases are in the region of $2.20 across the board. The increases come from a political party that ran a campaign and championed a no increase in fuel in the run up to the elections. But the now Prime Minister, Hon. John Briceño, has taken an about turn on this campaign. He has now publicly stated that based on recommendations from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Government of Belize will continue to tax fuel on its current structure. This, he stated, will be kept for at least two years. In layman’s terms, expect no respite from the gouging that consumers are currently taking at the pump anytime soon.
