It was quite the active night of shooting incidents in Belize City on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Hours following the shooting incident which eventually led to the demise of Percival Pilgrim and about an hour before that which led to Cynthia Conorquie’s and Allen Garcia’s murder, there was another incident. It took place on Iguana Street Extension while a group of residents were socializing across from a shop. It was after 7:00 p.m. when surveillance footage from the area captured a black Mazda Tribute driving on the scene.

Delon Hinds
Tony Madril

From the vehicle, a number of shots were fired indiscriminately toward the group but at the end, it was 31-year-old Delon Hinds and 44-year-old Tony Madril who were injured. The men were rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where Madril was listed as critical.
The SUV sped off but was intercepted on the scene of Conorquie and Garcia’s murder. Police officers who were responding to the double homicide met a vehicle which matched the description of this shooting incident. Inside, three Belize City men believed to be involved in that shooting were met. A search of the vehicle yielded two 9mm firearms, guns believed to be used in the Iguana Street shooting. It is expected that the trio will be charged in respect to the unlicensed firearms as well as other gang-related offenses. COMPOL Williams says that when the injured persons are able to give statements, they will be charged in relation to that.
