A teenager, who was charged and offered bail for theft, might be facing more serious charges pending the outcome of police investigations. 18-year-old Demetri Gordon, a laborer of Ordonez Avenue, and a second person reportedly stole a red Honda motorcycle valued at $3,000 from Ariel Santa. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 from a bakery in Belize City. To answer to the charge of theft, Gordon appeared before Magistrate Khadeen Palmer and pleaded not guilty. There was no objection to bail and he was offered bail in the sum of $2,000 plus one surety of the same which he was able to meet.
Freedom, however, did not last very long for Gordon as he was detained outside of the courtroom. Reliable sources have indicated that he was detained pending investigations into an attempted murder incident which recently took place in Belize City. Charges have not yet been levied against him until police finish their investigations. He is due back in court on April 3, 2021. One condition of his bail is that he is not to interfere with the virtual complainant whether directly or virtually.
