UDP ready for municipals


Municipal elections are scheduled for March 3, just a few days away, and the United Democratic Party is battle ready. On Monday, February 15, despite Covid-19 restrictions, the party mobilized country-wide to have its candidates nominated for the upcoming elections. A total of 67 candidates made their way to the various nomination centers to officially be recognized as candidates for the UDP. Party Leader, Hon. Patrick Faber told the press that the UDP is looking to secure victories in all municipalities.
The party has fielded the following candidates:
In Corozal, Roger Arana as the Mayoral Candidate with Cristobal “Chris” Babb, Marycelbi “Lupe” Barahona, Jaime “Mohammed” Bautista, Julie Castro, Narvin “Di Hindu” Ghanwani and Vanesa “Van” Vasquez as councilor candidates.
In Orange Walk, Orlando “Chicle” Castillo will lead the slate of Melvin Adolphus, Shamika Bull, Estelita “Ms. Cashew” Carlos, Henry “Teacher” Gomez, Rene “Pitbull” Escalante, and Andi Yam.
San Pedro has Ruben Gonzalez as the Mayoral Candidate with Jazelie “Jaz” Azueta, Richard Cordova, Kent “Bob” Gabourel, Raul “Coco” Gonzalez, Marceli McCorkle and Lorraine Reid as councilor candidates.
In Belize City, the slate is led by Orson Picart with councilor candidates being Kera Bowman, Andrew Bradley, Alisha “Lishy” Craig, Dr. Alain Gonzalez, Leon Guild, Allan “AK” Kelly, Kenneth “Kenny” Morgan, Anazette Olivera, Meagan Tasher and Shane D. Williams.
In Belmopan, it is Jacklyn Burns who will lead the slate consisting of Cristina “Chrissy” Chacon, Paul “Pio” Chun, D’Andre “Dee Dee” Martinez, Victor “Chiqui” Orellana, Louise Willis, and Leslie “Big Les” Zelaya.
San Ignacio/Santa Elena is led by current Mayor Alvin Earl Trapp with councilor candidates Abdel Cowo, Bernadette Fernandez, Amed Figueroa, Illiana Moreno, Mark O’Brien and Lin Valentine.
Benque Viejo will see Miguel “Mike” Guerra lead the team of Manuel “Tach” Contreras, Alvaro “Bayo” Gongora, Miguel “Charcoal” Gonzalez, Jose “Tony” Guerra, Abilio “Billy” Leon Jr. and Charles Ponce.
Dangriga is led by current Mayor H. Francis Humphreys who will have Orelle Castillo, Gary Francisco, Aaron “Jake” Gongora, Alexander “Lexus” Joseph, Earth Lopez, and Albourne “Beez” Marshall as councilor candidates.
Punta Gorda has Hansel Warrior as the Mayoral Candidate with councilor candidates being Linford “Linchy” Avila, Briceno “James” Bol, Karl “H6” Cabral, Glen “Coote” Logan, Beverly Roches and Darvin Sho.
