After finding a field of marijuana plants in the Corozal District, police destroyed the plants by fire on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Police and BDF soldiers conducted a joint operation in Consejo, Corozal which led to the discovery of the plants. There, they found a field of 2,500 plants ranging between five and six feet in height. Likewise, the law enforcement officers also found a shed used to house and process the plants where they also found marijuana in crocus bags. The total combined weight of marijuana discovered under the shed was 6,665 grams or just under 15 pounds. They also discovered a second marijuana field on which 3,240 additional marijuana plants ranging between one and two feet in height were found. There, they found three sheds which housed a combined total of 5,205 grams or just over 11 pounds of processed marijuana. No one was seen in any of the areas during the operation and as a result, all the processed marijuana and marijuana plants were destroyed by fire.
