Gabino Garnett Jr.

Just before curfew hours on Monday night, the sound of gunfire shattered a peaceful evening in Esperanza Village. At the end of a barrage of 11 shots, 34-year-old Gabino Garnett Junior rushed to the house of his girlfriend Kenya Montejo across Middle Bank Road and complained to her that he had been shot. Montejo would then peer through her window and saw a person dressed in dark clothing running from the scene of the crime.
A police report states that Gabino Garnett arrived at the San Ignacio Community Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries.
Earlier that evening, Garnett had a meal with his girlfriend, watched some television, and played with his baby boy, who is about to complete a year old. He had decided to take his family to Santa Elena for the night and was about to turn the key of his car’s ignition when the first shots rang out.
A few weeks ago, someone had shot at him whilst on a cycle near the same area but they missed.
Garnett was arraigned for the stabbing murder of Earl Baiza back in March 2014.
One person is currently detained and the police are looking for two other suspects.
