Another missing fisherman

Eric Swan

The family of 35-year-old Eric Swan, a fisherman of Orange Walk Town, is asking that the public be on the lookout for their loved one. He was last seen almost two weeks ago, on Friday, December 18 in Belize City and has not been heard from since. A few days following his last sighting, a missing person’s report was officially filed with the Belize Police Department but to no avail. They are currently actively searching for Swan, who is of a Hispanic descent, brown complexion, and stands at approximately six feet tall. He has brown eyes, low, black hair, and tattoos “Skell” on his left arm and “Leah and Jahlea” on his right arm. He was reportedly last seen wearing a white cap, a white long-sleeved shirt, a green camouflage jacket, and a pair of long blue jeans. The public is asked to report any pertinent information leading to Swan’s location.
Swan is no stranger to the law and in April 2009, was in court to answer to charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
He was accused of the January 30 murder of John Paul Saldivar that occurred at a place known as Rocky Point in the Glovers Reef Atoll. Saldivar was shot dead at an abandoned house on Rocky Point, about 16 miles from San Pedro Town. It is believed that Saldivar was murdered in retaliation to two other murders. The bodies of those two other murder victims were later discovered and identified as Edward Gutierrez and Jason Swan, a brother of the accused Eric Swan. When their bodies were discovered, they were already in an advanced state of decomposition. The series of events led police to believe that the three murders were all drug-related, especially since a large quantity of US dollars was discovered on a group of Belize City men, who were in San Pedro around the same time that the killings were unfolding.
