While most Belizeans are finding it very difficult to even come up with a decent Christmas meal this year, the Office of the Prime Minister is not being as thrifty on Christmas spending. The Guardian is reliably informed that those who run the office have spent in excess of $8,000 in Christmas decorations. We are told that it was suggested to the CEO in the office to re-use last year’s decorations to which she replied, “we di ya fi spend.” It seems that is the mentality that she arrived at the office with and was the very first thing she told staffers when she came to the office of the CEO.
It seems that Belizeans in general can bear the brunt of the negative effects of the Covid pandemic but for those living high off the hog, that simply is not an option.
