A resident of Mayflower Street in Belize City is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after he was accused of pulling a gun at his neighbor. 20-year-old Shemar Kelly allegedly pulled a gun at his neighbor, 24-year-old Percival Pilgrim, on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Kelly was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Khadeen Palmer where he pleaded not guilty to the single charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. Due to the nature of the offense, bail was denied and he was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until January 14, 2021.
Pilgrim reported to police that at around 7:00 p.m. on November 7, he was riding his bicycle on Banak Street heading to Mayflower Street when he rode past Kelly. That is when Kelly reportedly drew a firearm, pointed it to Pilgrim and told him not to pass the area again. Fearing for his life, Pilgrim reported the matter to police and requested court action.
