No plan to fight Covid

Michel Chebat

It has been a week since the PUP won the elections by a landslide and even after that period of time, there is no indication as to how the Covid-19 pandemic will be addressed. Some view this as lack of planning and lack of strategy. Meanwhile, the deaths keep mounting. As we write, there are almost 100 persons who have died as a result of Covid, yet there is absolute silence from the now Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat.
The best he has offered the Belizean public is that the measures put in place by the former administration will remain in place. He added that he has been consulting to see what can be done. And as much as Chebat keeps on consulting, the numbers keep on rising. This is particularly so after the General Elections which has turned out to be a super-spreader event. That, coupled with the mass celebrations and lack of following of the regulations in victory parties, will see the numbers keep on rising.
